Paul H. Berghoff
Paul Berghoff, a founder of McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP, has again been selected as one of the top 90 patent lawyers in the U.S. by the International Bar Association and International Who's Who Legal. He has more than two decades of experience as lead trial counsel in complex patent litigation - both jury and bench trials - involving technologies as diverse as biotechnology, electronics, pharmaceuticals, software, medical devices, waste-treatment processes, and industrial catalysts. He has coordinated complex, worldwide patent litigations for many of his Fortune 500 clients and has argued numerous times before the Federal Circuit and other appellate courts.
Mr. Berghoff also counsels many of his clients concerning their bottom-line business risks and benefits relating to patent infringement, validity, and enforcement, with particular emphasis on evaluating potential litigation risks and opportunities. He also has an active patent interference practice and has served as a neutral arbitrator in major patent disputes.
He has lectured extensively on a wide variety of topics relating to patent litigation, most notably on claim construction and Markman hearings and on willful infringement issues.
