Y. Elaine Chang, Ph.D.
Y. Elaine Chang, Ph.D. concentrates in patent law. Her practice comprises patent prosecution with an emphasis on biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and biochemical art, and patent litigation. Dr. Chang has experience in client counseling in the areas of patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses and rendering opinions concerning patent validity. She represents companies, both large and small, as well as university clients.
Dr. Chang's scientific research and publications were in the field of molecular virology. She generated mutant viruses and utilized microarrays to study viral gene functions and pathogenesis.
Dr. Chang joined MBHB in 2002 as a technical advisor and became a patent agent in July 2003. She entered law school in the fall of 2003, and worked as a part time law clerk at the firm until her graduation in 2006.
