Anthoula Pomrening is a partner with McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP. Ms. Pomrening has experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, with a particular emphasis on litigating and counseling clients on patent and trademark issues. Her litigation experience includes both jury and bench trials in federal district court and appeals to the Federal Circuit. While her litigation practice spans a diverse range of technologies, Ms. Pomrening has concentrated on litigation involving medical devices and consumer products.
In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Pomrening has assisted clients in the procurement of patents in the mechanical and electro-mechanical arts and the rendering of opinions relating to patent infringement and validity, and the clearance of trademarks. She also provides counseling on patent and trademark matters.
Prior to joining MBHB, Ms. Pomrening worked as a patent examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for five years. During her time at the USPTO, she gained a solid foundation with respect to patent prosecution and an invaluable insight into the operations of the USPTO.
She has been a member of the MBHB Recruiting Committee since 1999 and currently serves as the Firm’s Hiring Chair wherein she is responsible for professional hiring.
Since 2005, Ms. Pomrening has been involved in a local chapter of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, whose mission is to aid those less fortunate through fund raising efforts. She is currently Vice President of the local chapter and a member of its board, and has recently chaired the organization's largest fundraising event.

Ms. Pomrening’s representative experience includes:
- Representing pharmaceutical clients and manufacturers of consumer goods in all phases of litigation
- Overseeing the development of patent and trademark portfolio for consumer products manufacturer
- Advising clients on infringement, validity, and freedom to operate issues
- Assisting client in policing unauthorized uses of key trademarks and negotiating the cessation of such uses
