Matthew J. Sampson
Matthew J. Sampson has nearly 15 years of experience in the practice of intellectual property law, with a particular emphasis on litigation, prosecution and client counseling. His work spans many technology areas, including microprocessor-based systems and software, business methods, communications, signal processing, semiconductors, and medical devices and imaging. He has rendered opinions regarding patent rights and counseled clients on designing around patent rights that appear to be valid, strategies for building and licensing patent portfolios, and patenting business methods. Mr. Sampson has litigated cases involving patent, antitrust, and related state law issues. He has also participated in alternative dispute resolution proceedings and is experienced in drafting and negotiating licenses.
Mr. Sampson served as the firm's managing partner from 2005-2007.
Before embarking on his legal career, Mr. Sampson worked as a research and development engineer for a supplier of airborne electronics systems, where his research focused on signal processing and RF design.
