Steven J. Sarussi
Steven J. Sarussi represents clients in various chemical, pharmaceutical, medical diagnostic, and biotechnology patent matters. A significant portion of his practice concerns surfactant, coating, encapsulation technologies, and various pharmaceutical technologies. He also counsels clients with respect to business and research issues.
Mr. Sarussi has developed portfolios of patents that have been successfully licensed by organizations from start-up pharmaceutical companies to major pharmaceutical houses. He supplies strategic guidance to pharmaceutical clients concerning patent issues surrounding generic drug products. Mr. Sarussi also provides counsel and direction in designing research programs and products to avoid patent infringement. He has successfully opposed European patents owned by his client's competitors, resulting in revocation of those patents.
He is the author of several articles on novel synthetic pathways to organic molecules.
Before embarking on his legal career, he was a research chemist in the cardiovascular diseases research department at G. D. Searle and Company.
