Daniel F. Gelwicks is a partner with McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP.  Mr. Gelwicks concentrates his practice on intellectual property law matters, including patent and trademark litigation, counseling, and prosecution.  Mr. Gelwicks also focuses on assisting early-stage clients on developing strategies for protecting their intellectual property by generating a comprehensive strategy to advance their business objectives.

Mr. Gelwicks has a specific interest in appellate practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  His appellate experience includes preparing merits briefs for appellants and appellees from both Federal District Court and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Gelwicks worked as a mechanical engineer responsible for designing, testing, and overseeing the construction and installation of dynamic and static mechanical equipment for an array of refining, chemical processing, and food & beverage clients.

Away from work, Mr. Gelwicks can be found exploring his photography hobby or out on Midwest lakes skiing, surfing, paddle boarding, or partaking in other watersports.
