Diversity & Inclusion

Bringing diverse backgrounds to your innovations

At MBHB, diversity, equity and inclusion are an integral part of who we are and what we do. The diversity of team members, backgrounds and ideas allows us to bring more innovative strategies to our clients. To ensure the firm’s core values are front and center, our Committee for Diversity and Inclusion works closely with our recruiting, professional development, pro bono and business development committees to weave these values into everything we do.

Mansfield Certification

MBHB has earned Mansfield Certification from the Diversity Lab.

“Diversity is a core value for our firm and a key enabler of our ability to help clients protect their innovations by securing and enforcing intellectual property rights,” said Daniel Pozdol, MBHB managing partner. “We’re proud to earn this recognition from the Diversity Lab, which validates our longstanding efforts to build a firm full of talented individuals with diverse backgrounds, viewpoints and experiences.”

MBHB participated in the Mansfield Rule for midsize law firms (defined as firms with between 25 and 150 lawyers in the U.S. and Canada), which launched in 2020.

Developing Diverse Teams

We believe building teams of talented individuals from a wide range of diverse backgrounds is important to our business success. To lead the charge in strengthening diversity and inclusion within the industry, MBHB was one of the first law firms in Chicago to support law students with a diversity and inclusion fellowship. We also grant practitioners billable hour credit for pre-approved pro bono and diversity efforts. Women’s Group

Did you know that in 2022 38% of all lawyers were women? That is an increase of 7% from 2010. To help continue the rise of women in the legal field and serve our firm’s female professionals, MBHB created the Women’s Group. This group is designed to serve the professional and social development needs of its members. The MBHB Women’s Group does so by:

  • Promoting business, networking and client development efforts
  • Providing leadership and relationship skills
  • Supporting education and training
  • Fostering professional development skills
  • Facilitating mentorship opportunities

Affinity Bar Associations

At MBHB, we are proud to support our professionals’ involvement in affiliate bar associations, which offer valuable networking opportunities. MBHB attorneys contribute to a variety of associations, including:

  • Women in BIO
  • Hispanic National Bar Association
  • National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA)
  • LGTBQ+ Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC)

Equal Opportunity Employer and Affirmative Action

MBHB is committed to a policy against discrimination in employment and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran status, gender identity or expression or any other protected group status under the law. MBHB is compliant with the Connecticut General Statutes §§ 4a-60(a)(1) and 4a-60a(a)(1), as amended.
