Overview

Ao Li, Ph.D., is an associate with MBHB, where he supports chemical and pharmaceutical company clients with patent law strategy and prosecution. Clients come to Dr. Li to secure broad patents – both U.S. and foreign – for their innovations in chemistry and materials science. Using his background in chemistry and materials science, Dr. Li advises clients on patentability, noninfringement and invalidity opinions.

Prior to joining MBHB, Dr. Li worked as a registered patent agent. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in polymer materials and a doctorate degree in organic chemistry. This background, covering multiple areas of chemistry, allows Dr. Li to quickly understand clients’ innovations to draft strong patent applications. In graduate school, Dr. Li conducted research on photoactivated drug delivery for biological applications, which has been authored in several peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Outside of work, Dr. Li enjoys spending time with his two dogs. He is also an avid traveler and regularly visits home in Jilin, China.
