Avery Yong-Ha Kim focuses her practice on patent and trademark prosecution and intellectual property strategy, with an emphasis on electrical and computer technologies. She has extensive experience advising Korean companies and multinational corporations on U.S. IP matters, including utility patents, design patents, trademarks, and brand protection.
Ms. Kim holds a J.D. and Bachelor of Laws from Yonsei University, an LL.M. with a Certificate in Business Administration from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and the Kellogg School of Management, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The Cyber University of Korea. She is currently completing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Prior to joining MBHB, Ms. Kim served as director and managing attorney at the Washington, D.C. IP Center of the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency (KOIPA), where she advised hundreds of Korean businesses, organized IP seminars for international stakeholders, and coordinated cross-border enforcement initiatives. She also previously served as general counsel at the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA)’s New York IP-DESK and practiced at a boutique IP law firm in Virginia.
In her free time, Ms. Kim enjoys snowboarding and golf. She is a certified level two snowboard instructor with the American Association of Snowboard Instructors.
