This session will discuss the importance of cybersecurity in light of the prevalence of data breaches, the duties to disclose the same, and the fines and penalties for failing to do so. It will discuss Illinois’ groundbreaking privacy legislation, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act and the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act, their interplay with federal law, and recent court decisions interpreting the same such as Rosenbach v. Six Flags Entertainment Co. Cybersecurity best practices and risk assessments will also be discussed.
