The full day conference is set to take place on Thursday, September 26 at the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago.

The Honorable Diane Wood of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit will deliver the keynote address at SCIPR 2013.

  • Bowman v. Monsanto Company (patent exhaustion in second generation of genetically modified seeds)
  • Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (international copyright exhaustion)
  • Already, LLC v. Nike, Inc. (impact of covenant-not-to-sue on declaratory judgment jurisdiction in trademark cases)
  • Gunn v. Minton (Federal Circuit jurisdiction over patent malpractice claims)
  • FTC v. Actavis, Inc. (antitrust and reverse payments to settle patent litigation)

MBHB partner Dr. Kevin Noonan is a featured panelist for the presentation addressing Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics, Inc. (patentability of human DNA sequences).

Instituted more than 20 years ago, IIT Chicago-Kent’s Intellectual Property Law program is one of the strongest in the country. Chicago-Kent was the first U.S. law school to offer a graduate LL.M. program in the study of international Intellectual Property Law, which continues to draw students from Asia, Europe, South America and the United States. As the importance of IP law has expanded, the Chicago-Kent IP program has kept pace, reflecting and anticipating the ever-changing nature and challenges of the contemporary IP field.
