Overview

Matthew Ridsdale is a patent attorney specializing in the acquisition and protection of intellectual property rights. Mr. Ridsdale leverages his experience designing heavy equipment to support companies across industries including automotive tooling and manufacture, building control and calibration systems, electronic trading systems and interfaces, and medical devices and monitoring instruments.

Mr. Ridsdale supports his clients with patent preparation and prosecution, preparation of legal opinions, patent portfolio management, license drafting, developing IP strategy and client counseling. He also has experience working closely with companies’ engineering and marketing teams, analyzing the scope of protection available with respect to the corporate innovation strategy and business constraints, and preparing initial disclosures packages and provisional patent applications. Mr. Ridsdale has also practiced before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in connection with ongoing patent litigation.

Prior to joining MBHB, Mr. Ridsdale worked as an in-house senior patent counsel managing a corporate innovation team tasked with protecting technologies related to web-delivered high-speed data services, and graphical user interfaces.

In addition to his experience in the legal field, Mr. Ridsdale is experienced in designing and controlling heavy equipment for the automated manufacturing of automotive airbags, frame elements and rack & pinion components. His work included product engineering for Panasonic Factory Automation, designing and testing vision algorithms for high-speed surface mount equipment used to manufacture printed circuit boards. His experience further includes the design metrology testing equipment for the calibration of surface mount equipment.
