McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month in March in recognition of it as an annual celebration of achievements by women in spotlighting their critical role in U.S. history. In this regard, we are highlighting noteworthy women inventors whose creations changed the world.
Margaret Knight is one of the 19th century’s most famous women inventors. She is perhaps most well-known for a machine she built which folded and glued paper to create a flat-bottomed paper bag. Over the course of her career, she invented over 100 different machines and patented 20 of them including a rotary engine, a shoe-cutting machine, and a window frame with a sash.
