MBHB Celebrates Women’s History Month: Inventor Sarah Breedlove / Madam C. J. Walker

McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month in March in recognition of it as an annual celebration of achievements by women in spotlighting their critical role in U.S. history. In this regard, we are highlighting noteworthy women inventors whose creations changed the world.

Sarah Breedlove / Madam C. J. Walker invented and developed her own line of hair care products specifically designed for African American hair, and branded them with her new identity as Madam C. J. Walker. Her method of grooming was designed to promote hair growth and to condition the scalp through the use of her products. She is credited with becoming the first female self-made millionaire in the United States.
